When I tell people that I want to make a living self-publishing, they tell me that I won’t make a living self-publishing and that I shouldn’t bother trying. People also think that I think that I will make millions of dollars self-publishing. Let’s get the cold hard truth out of the way.
• I will not make millions of dollars from self-publishing.
• My work in just another drop in the ocean.
• There’s no guarantee of success.
• When you self-publish, you’re starting your own business, and most businesses fail within the first year.
While these statements are true, I feel like people use these reasons as excuses not to bother trying.
Here’s the thing, I’ve written a business plan. Most authors, content creators, etc, earns money from advertising, crowdfunding, and merchandise. A lot of companies invest in other companies. So in addition to ad revenue, and selling merchandise, I’ve decided to make small investmenst in other companies. I’ve done that with Lending Loop.
Lending Loop is Canada’s first and only regulated peer-to-peer lending marketplace focused on small business. Our core focus is providing businesses with accessible capital at fair interest rates through a simple online process. We do this by cutting out the costly intermediaries, such as banks, making affordable financing accessible to small businesses.
