This is a news story from January, 2022. In other words, this news story hasn’t happened yet.

Because of the high rates, 60% of Newfoundland and Labrador can’t afford electricity. If that wasn’t bad enough, due to the recent cold weather, Newfoundland Power still has to initiate rolling blackouts. The only places that these rolling blackouts will not affect are government buildings and Mile One Center.

During snowstorms,  shelters will be opened across the province, so that residents can warm up and eat a hot meal. However, they won’t be the case every day. As a result, all residents will have to find alternative ways to stay warm.
